Today Author Eden Winters is sharing what the Holiday's entail at her farm, with her friends and family. I, for one, would love an invite. After Eden's post take a look-see at her Christmas series with giveaway details at the end.

Christmas at the Winters' Farm
Over the years, my Christmas traditions have evolved from childhood to parenthood and now grandparenthood (and empty nesterhood).
As it is just my husband and me at the house now, and we live too far from a main road for our home to be seen, we do relatively little outdoor decorating, saving most for indoors. We're huge Star Wars cosplayers and members of the 501st Legion, so decorate with that theme, even hanging flashing Christmas ornaments necklaces from the mannequins holding our Storm Trooper, Darth Vader, and Red Guard costumes. Our Christmas tree ornaments are all Star Wars characters, ships, etc., with a big Death Star topper.
Our traditions are a mix of those he and I each brought into the relationship, mostly subject to change. However, there are some we stick with.
We observe Thanksgiving dinner at my daughter's house, then come home to officially kick off Christmas. We watch White Christmas while decorating the tree. Over the next day or two, we’ll decorate the rest of the house. We try to choose a different Christmas movie to watch every night until December 24. Our favorites are Home Alone, Die Hard, The Christmas Chronicles, The Polar Express, Scrooged, and just about any other form of A Christmas Carol that we can find. Oh, and A Charlie Brown Christmas.
We attend a local Festival of Trees that takes place inside an old cotton mill. The inside is sectioned off, and each section is decorated to represent a decade in US history, circa 1920 to present day. The furniture and decorations replicate what would have been typical for the time period, from ornaments made of buttons and sewing spools, to commercially bought ones. There are also video screens that talk about the mill, how it related to the town's history, and how it closed when textile production moved to other countries.
In a social hall on the grounds, locals sell crafts, baked goods, homemade soaps, lotions, and the like, while offering baked goods, coffee, and mulled cider samples.
Usually, around a week before Christmas, my husband and I host a potluck dinner at our house, inviting the family and exchanging gifts so our kids and grandkids aren't too stressed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day when other family members want time together.
We don't serve ham or turkey. My mother always brings a casserole that I remember from being a kid. However, since I'm vegetarian, she now makes it with vegetarian crumbles instead of ground beef. Several other family members prefer it that way also.
On a side note, last year, I got my mother to write out the recipe by hand, and I sent it to a company that burned the words into lovely wooden cutting boards, which I gave to my kids for Christmas. They loved them!
We might have someone drop by on Christmas Day, and we'll watch a movie and eat popcorn. Mostly, Bear and I take things easy, enjoying some quiet time together after all chaos of the holidays.
I love Thanksgiving and Christmas and usually have all gifts bought by mid-November. Regardless of that love, though, the day after Christmas, it all comes down and is once more relegated to the attic.
To wait for next year.
