Roxy Blue
Publication date: March 12th 2024
Genres: Adult, Comedy, Contemporary, Romance, Suspense
This chilling but hysterically sardonic thrill-ride is hard to put down. Smart, sexy, and deeply revelatory, it will send you on an enthralling emotional journey you won’t forget.
Fiona Turner, CEO of Fiona’s Flowers floral shop, hasn’t the time nor inclination to bother with men until she finally meets the face on the other end of the phone. Having remained friends, she never suspected her ex-husband, Quade, would morph into a terrifying, controlling, law-bending monster. When Fiona exhibits the first signs of wanting to move on in life, he threatens to take everything from her. A long weekend at a conference answers all of Fiona’s questions about floral supplier, Bo Thompson, except how she can possibly have him. She’ll never know what she’s missing unless she risks everything for love.

Raised in the South and transplanted to a midwestern New Age community, Roxy Blue writes about the types of down-to-earth characters that dispel the notion of romance being rubbish. After thirteen years as an exotic dancer, she developed a rare autoimmune arthritis that gave her an excuse to settle down and focus more on writing, although she still hoopdances and hikes on the good days. Roxy lives in Asheville, NC with the kind of hunk she likes to read about, and their two ridiculous cats.
Inspiration Behind the Book
Fiona’s Fury was a very surprising baby for me because it’s not based on my life, or anyone’s whom I personally know. It’s actually the second of the Finding Love Again trilogy, all stand-alones, and so was created out of two side characters from my first novel, Some Kind of Angel, whom I just happened to find immensely interesting. My decision to publish Fiona first was due to it being a romantic suspense that will appeal to such a broad audience, whereas Angel does not include suspense and is in fact quite a bit on the literary side.
All my characters are inspired by traits and personality types I’ve observed in real people, some whom I’ve known well and others that I’ve barely met. But Fiona Turner doesn’t have the personality or background you’d probably find in my closest circle of friends, so I find her particularly fascinating. I do, nonetheless, identify with many moments of personal torment she experiences, especially when raging at inanimate objects due to underlying frustrations she’s not able to escape from. At one point Fiona has a panic attack without even being conscious of the causes of tension in her life that have led her to such severe distress. My elucidation of a complete physical panic attack is taken from direct experience.
Bo Thompson is a more familiar character for me, as he’s somewhat of a cross between my father, one of my father’s best friends, and another close friend of mine from Texas…then romanticized, idealized, and sculpted into a man who’d probably appeal to most any woman that isn’t into the fast-paced, materialistic, city-life type. Bo is the epitome of down-to-earth, a sort of shaman alpha hick extraordinaire. He’s cool under fire, solid as a brick, and confident in any situation. I’m fortunate to have had similar male influences in my life.
Fiona’s award winning floral designer, Maxine, is the star of Some Kind of Angel, and is closely representative of me in most ways. She has a bit part in Fiona’s Fury, but generally portrays my personality and outlook on life…during the recent decade in which both books take place.
The entire plot of Fiona’s Fury, including each scene, was unplanned, unexpected, and came way out of left field every time I sat down to write.
