Karenna Colcroft has a new MM paranormal romance out, Real Werewolves Don't Eat Meat book six: Tahe Some Tahini. And there's a giveaway.
Tobias Rogan never wanted to be a leader. But here he is, the Anax of the United States, ruler of all werewolves in the country. Only two weeks after winning the rank in a challenge fight against his senile predecessor, Tobias and his mate Kyle are still adjusting to their new reality when a frantic call alerts Tobias to the massacre of nearly half the wolves in a pack in North Dakota–including the pack’s Alpha and Beta.
An investigation reveals that the wolves responsible for the attack are from Canada. Tobias reaches out to Silas Creighton, Anax of Canada, and finds someone like-minded in wanting peace between the wolves of the two countries. At Silas’s invitation, Tobias and his mate Kyle, along with their new guard Quinn Boucher, sole survivor of the North Dakota massacre, travel to Nova Scotia to put an end to the conflict between the American and Canadian werewolves. But not all wolves are interested in peace–and not all want Tobias to survive the trip.
Warnings: violence, gun violence, discussion of past sexual abuse, homophobia
About the Series
Kyle Slidell didn't move to Boston expecting to be changed into a werewolf. But that's what happened. He can't control whether he shifts at the full moon, but he can damn sure continue being vegan--even in wolf form.
Tobias Rogan, Alpha of Boston North Pack, never expected to fall in love with anyone, let alone a man. A male Alpha is not supposed to have a male partner. But when he meets Kyle, he's immediately attracted. And after Kyle is changed, Tobias realizes the truth: Kyle is not only his partner, but his mate.
The werewolf world isn't a simple place, and Kyle and Tobias are thrown into the middle of conflict within and among the packs of the United States--a conflict that extends all the way to the top of the werewolf hierarchy. Can they and their love survive what they face?

Road Trip!
As I was planning the writing of Take Some Tahini (Real Werewolves Don’t Eat Meat 6), I decided that given that my main characters Tobias and Kyle had almost always traveled by plane, it was high time for them to take a road trip. Especially since Tobias owns a vintage Mustang convertible that has only been used in book 1 of the series, Salad on the Side.
Part of the plot of Take Some Tahini involves Tobias, now the Anax of the United States, traveling to Nova Scotia, Canada, to meet with the Anax of Canada and hopefully broker peace between the werewolves of the two countries. I chose Nova Scotia as the location of the Canadian Anax’s base because it’s a province I’m very familiar with; my mother grew up in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, and I spent a week or two there every year until I was in college, visiting family and seeing the province.
I was planning a trip to Prince Edward Island anyway to visit my kid, who was in veterinary school there at the time (they graduated this spring!). This wasn’t the first time I’d gone to see them, and I had driven there each time because from our home in Massachusetts, driving is the fastest way to get to PEI. For this trip, I chose to take the route I imagined Tobias and Kyle would have picked, sticking mostly to Route 1 instead of the highway and spending a night in Lubec, Maine, including a visit to West Quoddy Head, the easternmost point in the United States.
Much of my experience on my own road trip made its way into the book. Kyle’s excitement at seeing the Topsfield Fairgrounds north of Boston was something that popped into my head as I drove past the fairgrounds; it occurred to me that having lived in Boston for only a couple of months before his change, and not having had much time to tour the area, Kyle might not ever have seen those fairgrounds before.
Some of the conversations Kyle and Tobias have during their drive are conversations I imagined during my own drive—and then had to beg my memory to hold onto until I got to a point where I could stop and write them down!
Tobias’s aggravation with June traffic on Route 1 was my own reaction to the traffic I encountered, though I took my trip in September rather than June. Even the choice to get on the highway in Wells and then get off to see L.L. Bean was mine as well as Tobias’s, though the L.L. Bean thing was because I figured it was something Kyle would enjoy.
My night in Lubec, of course, wasn’t spent at the home of the Easternmost Pack Alpha; instead, I had an AirBnB at a collection of cottages near West Quoddy Head. In fact, the background picture I used on the cover of Take Some Tahini is one I took when I woke up at those cottages. Below is the original picture:
My trip diverged from Tobias and Kyle’s north of Moncton, New Brunswick. In the book, they continue east to Nova Scotia, while in real life I headed north to drive across the 8-mile-long Confederation Bridge that crosses the Northumberland Strait between New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. From that point on, I was on my own. But for the part of the trip from the Boston, Massachusetts area to Moncton, it was nice to have company—even if it was my own imaginary characters.
