This is book 4 in the shared world series, Station 47. Each book features a different couple with a HEA for that couple, but a tie in for the next book as well. Also, many of the previous characters have small parts. So, while I feel you would better understand if you read them all in order, it's not necessary.
It's a great series so I do recommend all I've read so far.
I loved Asher. I think this one is my favorite so far just because it's more morally grey than the others, has a lot of action not just centering at the firehouse and rescues and some suspense.
Both characters have secrets in their past and I'd call this comfort /comfort instead of hurt comfort because each has some healing to do.
If you like firemen, women on the run, MC (not the main character) ex-military, hurt comfort, kind of a second chance, age gap, romance and steam... you will love this.
