R.L. Merrill has a new MM contemporary rock 'n' roll romance out in the Road to Rocktoberfest series: Feuds and Interludes.
From the award-winning author of Hurricane Reese, Summer of Hush, and You Can Do Magic comes a new rock star romance series inspired by legendary rock 'n' roll love affairs. Feuds and Interludes is a rivals-to-lovers, hurt/comfort love story complete with adorable septuagenarian lovebirds and beloved characters from Merrill's previous rock-inspired series.
Boone Collins and Shane Butler are two of rock music’s brightest stars today. Their grandfathers founded a powerhouse rock supergroup that ruled the airwaves in the late 1970s, and the grandsons grew up in their shadows to become frontmen of their own successful bands. The epic rivalry between Boone and Shane is notorious, and it’s about to blow up.
When Shane’s grandfather Bruce inducts his deceased bandmate into the Rock Music Hall of Fame, he admits to the world that he wrote the band’s biggest hit about his best friend’s widow—Boone’s grandmother Vera Jean. The two want to rekindle their relationship, and their grandsons are determined to keep them apart. Only, working together for a common goal reveals surprising similarities between the rock stars as well as a chemistry they cannot ignore. Shane sees behind Boone’s glittery facade to the secrets he hides from his bandmates, and Boone is there to pick up the pieces when Shane’s professional world implodes. Together, they plot a musical collaboration to celebrate their grandfathers’ accomplishments instead of fighting—a star-studded tribute at the storied Rocktoberfest event in the Nevada desert—but will being in the spotlight prove to be too much for their fledgling romance to handle?

Feuds, Interludes, and Lousy Attitudes: Personal Connections to the book.
Greetings! Thanks for helping me get the word out about Feuds and Interludes: Road to Rocktoberfest! This post is going to get a little personal, so everyone strap in.
Many of the folks I’ve met in Romancelandia and in queer book spaces deal with chronic illness, myself included. Being able to vent and share with each other about the struggles we go through and how books help us has been a powerful byproduct of my career as a writer and I’m grateful for all the folks I’ve met along the way who have shared their stories. Chronic illnesses are often invisible, they can bring a stigma, and they can make it difficult to deal with everyday life stuff. As a lifelong allergy sufferer (year long, pretty much if it grows outside or in dark damp spaces, I’m wildly allergic to it) with asthma, I’m used to having to explain why I am sick all the time, why I cough even when I don’t have the flu, or why I prefer the indoors.
December 1, 2020, in the middle of the hairy lockdown, I got some pretty shitty news. That whole pre-diabetes thing I’d been flirting with? Yeah. The royal we were no long pre, we were in it. I had all kinds of feels about it that I will not go into. At first, I tackled it head on and managed to lose 34 pounds with diet and exercise, get my A1C back below pre-diabetes level, and boom! I though hell yeah, I did it. Then, another chronic issue I deal with came roaring back to life, I had to change medications and boom, I was back in the diabetes range. Fuuuuuuu. The diet that is good for one thing isn’t good for the other, oh and losing weight? Yeah, it causes issues too.
It was in the middle of all this that I first started writing what would become Feuds and Interludes. At the time, the working title was “Grandpa Boyfriend,” thanks to my good pal Marielle who loved the grandparents dating aspect of the story. But as I wrote the character Boone, well, it just seemed natural to me that he would be dealing with some health things. He wasn’t about to have this bullshit interfere with his perfectionism and therefore he kept his diagnosis a secret from everyone but his grandmother while he wallowed in his life changes, still trying to do it all even when his body was telling him very clearly NOPE. Writing Boone helped me deal with what I was going through in my own life and helped me have a slightly healthier outlook on my own situation. I hope, dear reader, this book does the same for you. We all need to find ways to be kinder to ourselves. If Boone can do it (with the help of a gorgeous and kind man) so can we.
i hope you enjoy reading Feuds and Interludes along with all the other awesome books in the Road to Rocktoberfest 2024 Collection! Stay Tuned for more…

Thank you so much for the post and review! One correction, The Road to Rocktoberfest is not a charity collection, however, I do give regularly to several organizations that assist folks in the music industry including Sweet Relief, SIMMs, TWLOHA, and Metallica's All Within My Hands Foundation among others. Thank you for sharing Feuds and Interludes!
