Cat gives this Audiobook 4 meows overall...
At first, I wasn't sure i loved the narration. The voices seemed the same and hard to tell who was who.... however Beth Bolden writes her books well enough it's easy to tell who's speaking and it does say read by jot performed by and also as it went on, I think the narration got much better even the voices seemed more distinctive. The pacing is good and emotions really good. I actually enjoyed listening even more than reading myself.
I was so excited for Gavin and Zachs story and wasn't disappointed. It's not necessary to read the previous books but you understand who all the characters mentioned are. I think Gavin and Zach are one of my favorite Beth couples.
The book is a little angsty as Gavin lost his wife 4 years ago and moved off to a cabin in the woods off grid. He was content until Zach shows up with an offer from the Evergreens.
The story is a sweet, spicy, slow burn and there's a lot of Hayes and Morgan mentioned building up their book.
My only issue is not a lot happens in the first half of the story. But the conversations between Zach and Gavin are an awesome build up.
If you like a good age gap and hockey romance where both guys have a secret crush on the other this is for you.
A lifelong Pacific Northwester, Beth Bolden has just recently moved to North Carolina with her supportive husband. Beth still believes in Keeping Portland Weird, and intends to be just as weird in Raleigh.
Beth has been writing practically since she learned the alphabet. Unfortunately, her first foray into novel writing, titled Big Bear with Sparkly Earrings, wasn’t a bestseller, but hope springs eternal. She has published over forty novels and novellas.
