The story was slow to start and sometimes explanation of a situation or more description of a character was needed, but eventually Samples found her footing and the story took off from there. For me it was with the introduction of Aiden and as he revealed more to Spencer the story just took off from there. An ample dose of twists and turns along the way added some suspense and intrigue. And then something major happens and I'm running my finger across the screen, and nothing. The end, well for now. So, yes there is a cliffhanger that I am anxious to jump in to!
I'd recommend Wicked Souls to readers that enjoy stories of romance, intrigue, true love, angels and a strong female lead. My personal favorite of the story wasn't introduced until the end, but there was just something about the utterly mysterious character Abaddon that drew all of my attention. Like I said, anxious for book two!
Excerpt:
"Spencer, Aiden, I am glad you were able to make it. Let me introduce you to Abaddon. He is going to perform the execution for us." Gabriel begins once we make it over to him.
I look at Abaddon closer and realize his skin is made of molten rock, his armor holds the pattern of a skull at his waist and two skulls at his ankles, all of which look to be demonic. My eyes now fall to the axe in his hand. The handle is black steel; the head has a sliver blade at one end and what looks to be another demonic skull at the other end. From the mouth and eyes of the skull are continuous flames. My eyes are drawn back to the face of the man, which is hidden behind a black hood, as he begins to speak. His voice is low and gravelly
"You have been called here to witness the execution of Vetis the demon." He booms to the crowd. "I have been appointed executioner on this day."
My first book Wicked Souls is on sale now and I am now in the planning stages of book 2 called Hidden Secrets (Spring 2014).I am going to school for my associates degree in Health Information Technology and I am taking a few writing classes on the side.
I am 24 years old. I live in Cleveland, Ohio. I have a loving husband and a beautiful 5 year old daughter. I spend most of my time running around and playing with her. In my free time I love to read and write.
I have always loved writing. When I was younger I would write random short stories and poems. Finally I began to get serious about writing, so I started writing longer stories. I got the idea to try to get my work published In December of 2012. I found a reliable company and began to write my first book Wicked Souls.
I plan on making Wicked Souls a series of three books. Then after that I am considering writing a sci-fi series and from there, who knows.

ReplyDeleteSorry I missed the contest. I usually do not enter these contests, and at one time I did, and have manged to only win one. I am a Reviewer for new and seasoned authors. Several of my reviews have appeared on the published copy I reviewed. Like I said, I usually do not enter contests, however, when I come across a talented author with a great imagination and creative writing, I feel honored to enter and help spread the word about his or her work. I have a lot of respect for the hard work, long hours, and tears an author will put into a book in order to allow the reader escape the every day drudgery and hardships life can present. The reader for a short time, can transport him or her into another world, shutting out everything around them. Thank you for the contest, I wish everyone good luck, but most of all I want others to realize the quality of work I see in your profession and passion.
