Writing Process Blog Hop with Author TM Smith!
Welcome friends!!
Today's post is actually a part of a really fun blog hop.
I’ve been tagged by the lovely Iyana Jenna to talk about my writing process, and what’s coming up for me in the future.
This hop is all about authors offering others a glimpse into their writing process, their work schedules, and perhaps some insight as to what makes an author tick. For me it's a lot of visuals. Music, movies, TV shows and books inspire me. When I settle into my writing cave I like to have a steaming cup of coffee and my playlist going in the background. Here's a quick five question Q&A I answered specifically for this hop.
I'm tagging Author Andrew Grey to take the reigns for this hop next week, so be sure to head over to Andrew Grey books to see his answers.

Q: What am I working on?
I'm currently writing Appearances, book 2 in the Opposites series. Raven and Tanis fans rejoice, they get a LOT more page time in this book.
Appearances will be a little darker than Opposites. All the newlyweds are getting comfortable, too comfortable and their guard is down. Raven and Tanis are trying very hard to merge their vastly different lifestyles, but Tanis issues with his own past could prove to be more than their fragile relationship can handle. Something HUGE is happening, something that hasn’t happened since GWI and while everyone’s attention is focused on that, the devil sneaks in and someone will sacrifice themselves to save another.
Q: How does my work differ from others of its genre?
I hope that the world I've built is unique and different and will capture the readers. And then you can submerse yourself in my varying love stories. There is a little something for everyone; The Soulmates Aiyan and Kaden. The triple threat Aiya, Sawyer and Maeve. The odd couple Raven and Tanis. Childhood friends turned lovers Cirian and Rian. There are various cultures and lots of world history sprinkled into the story as well.

Q: Why do I write what I do?
Because it's fun, it annoys people (which seriously cracks me up) and the voices in my head are usually Fabulously gay men! The LGBT genre is still fairly new and there are so many avenues to explore. And dystopian is a a sold genre that has a strong fan base, so I combined the two to create the world of Opposites. I recently did an interview with Author Ashlyn Forge over at Gay Sci-Fi books if you want to see a more in depth Q&A on my series and writing.

Q: How does your writing process work?
I like to go back and read certain scenes from Opposites and look at pictures I've chosen for specific characters to get into their minds. Then I pour myself a cup of coffee, or a glass of read wine, turn on my playlist and jump right in. I don't write in sequence either. A thought or a scenario for something will come to mind and I'll write it out. Then when I get closer to completion, I'll go back and piece everything together. I've found that it is easier to write the meat of the story first, then go back in and add scenery and more in depth emotions to that scene. In the end I only hope that the puzzle I complete becomes a masterpiece!

Q: Who will we meet next?
I've tagged best selling author Andrew Grey. Andrew is an fantastic author in the genre with over 100 titles under his belt. He has written about gay cowboys, bullriders, chefs, authors and artists just to name a few. He's been in the business for over a dozen years and recently quit his dreaded "day job" to pursue his writing full time. We, his fans and readers, get to reap the benefits!

A military brat born and raised at Ft. Benning Georgia; Smith is an avid reader, reviewer and writer. She now calls Texas home from her small town on the outskirts of the DFW Metroplex. Most days you can find her curled up with her kindle and a good book alongside a glass of something aged and red or a steaming cup of coffee!
At 42 years young, she's decided to enter the next phase of her life by adding the title of "author" to her list of accomplishments that includes single mom of three disturbingly outspoken and decidedly different kids, one of which is Autistic. Smith is and outspoken advocate for Autism and equal rights for the LGBTQ community.
Her Opposites series is based outside the normal parameters of social acceptability, examining a 'what if'... What If to be gay or lesbian were the norm? What if to be straight labeled you as an Opposite and made YOU the Outkast?

My moto is, Love is Love. No one should be allowed to tell you who you can or can't love. Being gay, straight, lesbian, bi-sexual or transgender is not a choice, it's who a person is. It's not a lifestyle, it is that persons life. If anyone can ever give me a valid reason why hating someone because of their sexual orientation has affected their life negatively, I might just listen. Probably not, but maybe.

As I said, I am a very visual author, so checkout my music selections through my youtube channel ...
My favorite is, among others, Cody Kennedy. :)
