Omissions is Taylor Law's short story submission for the Goodreads MM Romance group for their Love's Landscapes submission.
Dear Author,
My established couple has plans to finally tie the knot and take their relationship into happily-ever-after territory. Unfortunately, life… especially a life that is a completely fabricated lie… always has a way of sneaking up on you. One of my guys is living a lie, living a life that is completely fake and, he thought, his horrid past was buried forever. Just as he is ready to believe that there is a chance for him to move on and live the fairytale, the past comes knocking on his door. And now the bright future is looking really dim.
Would you, dearest author, please run my guys through the wringer, break them down and then help them build their new life together without the lies and the fear so that they can finally, finally be happy, forever.
Photo Description:
A naked man sitting with his knees pulled to his chest and his head hanging down. He is in the middle of an overgrown field, surrounded by woods. Another naked man is crouched at his back, holding his shoulders, and he has his face buried in the back of the seated man’s neck.
This story was written as a part of the M/M Romance Group's "Love’s Landscapes" event. Group members were asked to write a story prompt inspired by a photo of their choice. Authors of the group selected a photo and prompt that spoke to them and wrote a short story.
This story may contain sexually explicit content and is intended for adult readers. It may contain content that is disagreeable or distressing to some readers. The M/M Romance Group strongly recommends that each reader review the General Information section before each story for story tags as well as for content warnings.

Omission - For now, it is
available as a short story for free. I will eventually expand it for
publication. This is a crime thriller and has a darker subject matter than my
norm. There are trigger warnings all over this story. Please make sure that the
readers know and take them seriously. I did not exaggerate.

Do you do research for your books? If so, what does
that entail?
Absolutely. It depends
on the book. I’ve studied wolf packs, theology, culture, angels and demons. I
draw out towns and buildings. I have books on criminal psychology. I went to
college for criminal law, so I know basic procedure, but if I don’t know, I
look it up or ask advice. I’ve researched weapons. I’ve used Google Maps to
research areas that I’ve never been to. Anything and everything that I feel
needs detail and I don’t know thoroughly, I research. Readers still catch
things that I wouldn’t even think about. They are amazing.
How many books have you written? Which is your
favorite?
I’ve written seven or so
full books and then a ton of partials. I’ve only published three. Wrong Way is
my fourth. I don’t have a favorite book. They are so different that they can’t
compare to each other. I love the darkness of Omissions and the thriller
aspect. It’s not like anything else I’ve published. My favorite character right
now is Justice. He is not what he seems but yet he believes he is unredeemable.
Runner up is Jessie from The Shenandoah series. He is actually modeled after a
few friends and he is just sparkles, unicorn poop, and a total brat, but he
will do anything for his loved ones. He makes me laugh.
Do you hear from your readers much? What do they say?
I do randomly. A few have thanked me for writing in
the LGBTQ genre and told me how they loved seeing themselves in books. Most are
always asking when the next book is out. I’m bad about keeping a schedule. I
feel bad about that, but I can’t seem to fix it with my health issues. I write
when I can, and I never know when that will be.
I’m finishing up edits for Wrong Way, which will be released after a long wait on June 7th. And I’m outlining—Yes, I think I’ve become a plotter instead of a pantser—the next Heaven On Earth series, and of course, Justice’s book for The Shenandoah Pack. I can’t wait until his book is done. I really really love him.
Gay Romance and Crime
Author, Taylor Law is a northern born, southern girl, with a free spirit.
Taylor has lived in the southern United States most of her life, along with her
huge Italian family. She started writing at a very young age; her first poem at
six, her first song at seven, and stories followed directly after. She hasn’t
stopped since.
She started with Barbie worlds that took
over her room for days on end, standing on the kitchen table and singing
randomness that eventually turned into songs, and making up endings to her
favorite stories. It was no surprise to anyone when she started writing them
all down. The surprise came, however, when she turned to writing LGBTQ romance
and fiction. Now, some of her family regularly read her books and ask for more,
and her books have hit several distributor bestseller lists in their genres,
which is more than she could have ever hoped for.
Taylor has a paralegal degree, but she
also went to college for Music, Theatrical Arts, and Criminal Justice. She
worked as a contract and civil litigation paralegal for fifteen years before
publishing her stories. She loves to learn new things. She also enjoys history,
an eclectic array of music, puzzles, her friends and family, and laughing.
Taylor would much rather read than watch television any day.
A romantic clear to her soul, Taylor
continues to believe the elusive ‘Happily Ever After.’ She lives in Florida
where it rains regularly – yes, the sunshine state is a myth. On any given day,
you can usually catch her with a book in her hand or creating something.
