A Super special 'Throwback' post in memory of Eric Arvin
A wonderful man, dear friend, brother, uncle and son left us today. Though I never had the chance to meet Eric personally, his passing resonates with me none the less. My deepest sympathy goes out to everyone feeling the gravity of this loss today, especially his family and close friends.
Eric's family will not only need our prayers, positive thoughts and energy, but they'll need to pay for services as well. There is a Go Fund Me page set up to help with funeral expenses - A Mother's Love - and you could always purchase 1 or 2 or all Eric's titles in the many formats available to continue to help support his family as they put one foot in front of the other and continue to hold each other up during this difficult time.

I'm reminded of a book I listened to a while back by Eric Arvin and just how poetic the story is, today of all days. I believe that Eric was giving us all a sneak peak at just what his kind of heaven might look like. May you fly with the angels Eric, be at rest and at peace. Would you check in on Tim Marsh please and tell him we all still miss him everyday? God speed Eric. The world is a better place simply having had you in it.
The quest is not without challenges. Joe's past is not always an easy thing to relive, but if he wants to find peace—and reunite with the Stranger he is so strongly drawn to—he must continue on until the end, no matter how tempted he is to stop along the way.

The blurb really does say it well for this book. The story follows Joe as he traverses what can only be perceived as the afterlife. He woke up butt naked in a field with no recollection of who he is or how he got where he is. As the story unfolds Joe along with his guide, Baker, face a series of realities and challenges that Joe must face in order to find his way. Peppered throughout are memories that keep rising to the surface. Memories of a lover that are shadowed that blend with the stranger he met when he first woke up.
And then that final memory of how Joe got to this strange place. A choice he made that he will have to come to terms with if his spirit is going to survive. This book reminded me a lot of the movie What Dreams May Come, it was very poignant and prolific almost. Definitely a spiritual message there for those who are willing to see it. What I was most drawn to while listening to this book was the scenery. Arvin painted a picture in words that could rival any artist on display in a galary.
Narrated by the master storyteller himself, mister Charlie David. I just love his voice, and I especially loved the Nashville edge he added not only to Baker’s voice, but his entire persona. I don’t know if I would have enjoyed the print version of this book as much as I did the audible. My day just flew by listening to this one, I seriously lost track of time.

Thank you for the lovely post. I never met Eric, but have been following his story. I admired his strength and optimism - how he always smiled in his videos. My thoughts are with his family.
ReplyDeleteThanks also for sharing the Go Fund Me link. It makes the sadness a bit less to be able to help.
