Two years ago, five women went missing. Last year, ten disappeared. Both times, it happened in December.
Now it’s December again, and five more have vanished. To social worker, Madison Taylor, the women are not only her clients. They are her friends. Despite the recent discovery of the remains of five females, the police continue to be unhelpful because of the lifestyle the missing women lead.
Even after Madison is attacked and threatened, she stays determined to uncover the truth. How does her attacker know about the monster from her past? Madison’s identity was never made public.
Is this the work of a serial killer or something more horrific?

Hi Y’all! Come in and grab a slice of pizza and a cold drink while I tell you about this book I just read.
The title is Silent Death by Mariette Whitcomb, it is book 2 in the Death Trilogy. You do need to read in order. This is Madison and Clay's story and picks up a few months after the first.
The cover is interesting, then I read the blurb and it really got my interest because, I love a good psychological thriller, and I read the first book so I needed to see what happens next.
Who’s my favorite main character? I love both Clay because duh...sexy S.W.A.T. man and I love Madison's determination and heart.
Was there another character I loved and why? King, because, cute doggy factor! I will say this book is character strong. Lots of lovable characters and a few creepy ones.
There are two major plots. First, the missing women that are clients and friends of Madison. The second, the on-going plot of the series and the killer from book one.
There are so many twists and lots of characters, things happen that leave breadcrumbs to the mysterious solving. Or do they? I love trying to figure things out and be wrong.
Also, it's in a few different POV. You have Clay and Madison's views in the main story, but there are mini stories from another POV, and also the Killers POV and no, no apostrophe...
The story is a psychological thriller with romantic suspense elements. If you've never read this author I highly recommend.
I loved the ending. It was an HFN with a sort cliffhanger that leads into the final book. But I, myself, like continuing series and love a good cliffhanger. It just makes me want the next book.
If you like mystery, suspense, psychological thriller, romance, small town, and lots of twists you will like love this.
There are some trigger warnings mentioned so if rape, abuse, torture and violence bothers you, skip this one or read with caution. It is dark.
